Prof. Emeka E Oguzie

Prof. Emeka E Oguzie is the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Development & Innovation at Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria. In this capacity, he oversees the university’s research portfolio, fosters innovation, and drives partnerships between academia, industry and international stakeholders to advance energy, materials science and electrochemical systems. Before assuming the DVC role, Prof. Oguzie built a distinguished academic and research career in physical chemistry and electrochemistry. He holds a B.Sc in Pure Chemistry from University of Nigeria Nsukka, an M.Sc in Analytical Chemistry from FUTO, and a Ph.D in Physical Chemistry from the University of Calabar. He has also held several leadership positions at FUTO including Head of Department, Director of the Center for Research & International Development, and Dean of the School of Environmental Sciences. Among his many achievements, Prof. Oguzie leads the Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies & Electrochemical Systems (ACE FUELS) at FUTO, a World Bank–funded research centre focused on clean energy technologies. He was also awarded the Piql Award for Heritage Preservation in 2025, in recognition of his leadership in preserving scientific research data for future generations.
