Prof. Abubakar?Sani?Sambo

Prof. Abubakar?Sani?Sambo is Professor of Energy Studies in the Faculty of Engineering & Environmental Design at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS). He also served as the pioneer Dean of that Faculty. Prof. Sambo’s work integrates teaching and cutting?edge research in renewable energy systems, energy planning and sustainable infrastructure. Earlier in his career, Prof. Sambo earned a First-Class B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a D.Phil in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sussex, UK. He began his academic career at Bayero University, Kano, before joining UDUS, where he headed the Sokoto Energy Research Centre (SERC). He also has significant leadership experience, having served as Vice-Chancellor at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University. Prof. Sambo’s contributions to Nigeria’s energy landscape are profound. He served two terms as Director?General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), where he oversaw the development of the National Energy Masterplan, the National Energy Data Bank and the founding of several energy research centres. He is a Fellow of multiple professional bodies (including the Nigerian Academy of Engineering and the Nigerian Academy of Science) and has received national honours such as the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM).
