Dr Rainer Quitzow is a Research Group Leader at the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) (Helmholtz Centre Potsdam) where he leads the Geopolitics of Energy and Industrial Transformation group. He is also Honorary Professor of Sustainability and Innovation at Technische Universität Berlin. Before joining RIFS in December 2014, Dr Quitzow accumulated extensive experience in international development and policy research. He held roles at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., where he worked on governance and policy-impact analyses for development programs in Latin America and Africa. He also completed his doctoral degree at Freie Universität Berlin, where his research examined policy-driven markets for environmental technologies. Among his key achievements, Dr Quitzow has authored numerous influential publications on the geopolitics of hydrogen, global supply-chains for clean technologies and the governance of energy transition. His work has helped shape understanding of how innovation systems, industrial policies and global power relations interact in the shift to low-carbon economies.
