Adebayo Adelabu
Honourable Minister of Power, Nigeria
Adebayo Adekola Adelabu is the Honourable Minister of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In this role, he oversees national policies and reforms aimed at improving electricity generation, transmission and distribution, while working with government agencies, private sector stakeholders and international partners to expand access to reliable and affordable power across the country. Before his appointment, Adelabu built a strong career in finance and public service. He earned a First-Class degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University and later became a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He previously served as Deputy Governor (Operations) at the Central Bank of Nigeria, where he contributed to key financial system reforms and institutional oversight. As Minister of Power, Adelabu has focused on stabilising the sector, strengthening infrastructure delivery and advancing Nigeria’s long-term energy transition goals. His leadership emphasizes transparency, investment attraction and sustainable solutions to drive growth, improve service delivery and support national economic development.
