Dr.Chinnan Maclean Dikwal

Vice Chairman of the African Energy Council

Dr.Chinnan Maclean Dikwal is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the African Energy Council. In this role, he helps guide the organization’s strategic direction on Africa’s energy transition, particularly in areas of hydrogen, low-carbon energy and carbon markets. He brings thought leadership to energy diplomacy and sustainability in pan-African forums. Before taking up his current leadership role, Dr.Dikwal worked in energy consulting and advisory roles. He has held senior positions in technical consulting firms where he contributed to energy strategy, policy analysis and deal origination for clean energy projects. He has deep experience across oil and gas, renewables, hydrogen and power systems. Among his key achievements, Dr.Dikwal’s academic work is noteworthy. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, where his doctoral research focused on solid oxide fuel cells, technology central to clean energy conversion. He is also a vocal advocate for developing Africa’s hydrogen economy, having co-authored the African Energy Council report on “Powering Africa’s Future: Unleashing Green Hydrogen Opportunities.”
